Deputy of Tehran Medical Council Resigns in Protest Against Suppression of Doctors

The Deputy of the Tehran Medical Council resigned in protest against the suppression of doctors.

This morning, Wednesday, October 26, coinciding with the 40th day of Mahsa Amini’s death and the security forces’ attack on doctors protesting in front of the Medical Council, Mohammad Razi, the Deputy of the Tehran Medical Council, resigned.

In his resignation letter, he stated that he went to the House of Physicians to participate in the Medical Council and help organize a more peaceful gathering of doctors. However, he was faced with dozens of motorcyclists and security officials and witnessed bitter and unforgettable scenes of suppressive forces with female doctors.

He said that when he requested one of the female doctors, who was being dragged on the ground, to be guided inside the organization, one of the force commanders also pushed him.

At the end of his letter, he wrote, ‘In this message, I apologize to the dedicated medical community and all members of society in need of health, as I could not do anything worthy of the noble people during my tenure on the board of the Tehran Medical Council. I hereby announce my resignation.’
