Who is Ali Nikzad?
Ali Nikzad Samarin, born in 1965 in Ardabil, is a conservative Iranian politician and executive manager. He is a representative of the eleventh term of the Islamic Consultative Assembly from the electoral district of Ardabil, Sarein, Namin, and Nir, and is currently the first deputy speaker of the eleventh parliament. Previously, he served as the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, acting Minister of Communications, acting Minister of Roads and Transportation, and chairman of the board of directors of the Tadbir Building Development Group, affiliated with the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order.
In the ninth government, from 2005 to 2008, he was the governor of Ardabil. In the tenth government, from 2009 to 2011, Nikzad was the Minister of Housing and Urban Development and, while retaining his position, also served as the acting Minister of Roads and Transportation from 2010 to 2011. After the merger of the two ministries, he served as the Minister of Roads and Urban Development from 2011 to 2013. In 2012, he briefly held the position of acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology. He is the elder brother of Akbar Nikzad Samarin.
Ali Nikzad is a graduate in Civil Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology.
