FIFA Rule for Changing World Cup Team Player Lists

FIFA’s rule for changing the World Cup team rosters

The International Federation of Association Football emphasized that altering the national teams’ rosters for the Qatar World Cup is only possible under specific circumstances.

The 2022 Qatar World Cup matches begin on November 20th, and there are less than 20 days left until the start of this tournament. According to FIFA’s announcement, participating teams must submit their final 26-player roster by November 14th. The International Federation will then publish the rosters of all countries the following day.

The final team rosters must be selected from players whose names were on the initial list. Additionally, FIFA announced that altering or replacing a player after submitting the final roster is not possible unless due to a serious illness or injury, and even then, it requires the submission of verifiable documents and evidence.

The roster change can be made up to 24 hours before the start of the team’s first match, and the relevant federation must inform FIFA of this, including all player information and a copy of the passport.
