Continuation of Lawyers' Arrests

Continuation of the arrest of lawyers

The wave of arrests of lawyers in the city of Shiraz continues, and legal expert Masoud Ahmadian has reported that the number of detainees has increased to eight.

Mr. Ahmadian told the Emtedad news agency that after a peaceful gathering last month by a group of lawyers from Shiraz in front of the Fars Province Bar Association, the special unit’s motorized forces raided the location and used tear gas to send the protesters inside the building, and since then, the lawyers have been threatened with arrest.

According to him, in recent days, Nazanin Salari, head of the Human Rights Commission of the Fars Region Bar Association, and Mahmoud Taravat-Rouy, a lawyer and human rights activist, as well as Bahar Sahraian, a lawyer and human rights activist, have been arrested and charged with assembly and collusion.
