Contradictions Regarding the Founders of the Morality Police

While in the past, officials of the Islamic Republic have announced the establishment of the Morality Police based on a resolution by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution of Iran, last night Saeed Reza Ameli said in an interview with Iranian state television that we have no resolution titled Morality Police in the council.

Mr. Ameli stated that the resolutions of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution regarding the issue of hijab are qualitative and pertain to the understanding, education, and persuasion of public opinion among the youth.

Ismail Ahmadi Moghadam, the former commander of the police force, had previously said that the formation of the Morality Police was based on a resolution by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, and Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Raisi’s government, also stated in recent weeks that the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution has a resolution regarding the Morality Police in the notification stage.
