The head of the Tehran Provincial Judiciary and the Tehran prosecutor visited the prison where detained women are held.

News agencies and media close to the Iranian government have published images of the visit by Ali Alqasimehr, the head of the Tehran Provincial Judiciary, and Ali Salehi, the Tehran prosecutor, to the Greater Tehran Penitentiary.

These media outlets have stated that this prison holds women and girls arrested in the recent Tehran protests. There is no exact information on the number of detainees, but it is said that the number of those arrested in the recent Iran protests reaches thousands.

The Fashafuyeh Prison, or the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary, is referred to as the largest prison in the Middle East.

This prison was initially built for drug offenders, but in recent years, political and security prisoners have been transferred there.
