Canada and the Condemnation of Death Sentences for Protesters in Iran

On Tuesday, November 8, the Canadian Foreign Minister tweeted that the Iranian government’s decision to issue death sentences against some detainees is an intimidation of Iranians fighting for their human rights, and condemned it.

Mélanie Joly wrote, ‘We call on the Iranian regime to change its course, address the legitimate concerns of Iranians, and protect their right to protest.’

She emphasized at the end of this tweet that Canada stands with the people of Iran.
