Rostam Ghasemi left, another commander is coming
Rostam Ghasemi left, another commander is coming. Finally, after much controversy, we must now say that the former Minister of Transport has resigned. The corruption case in the Ministry of Transport, which was initially considered a special case in Iran Gate, was brought to attention. Iran Gate, by exposing the corruption and profiteering of Ghasem Makarem Shirazi, Rostam Ghasemi’s special assistant and inspector, as well as the graft and corruption of the minister’s stepson and second wife, Fatemeh Molaei, aimed to shed light on the dire situation in this mega ministry.
With the involvement of supervisory and security agencies, the issue took on more complex and serious dimensions. With the arrest of Ghasem Makarem and the summoning of several other managers close to and appointed by Rostam Ghasemi, the case entered a new phase.
As Iran Gate had reported about ten days before the imminent resignation of Rostam Ghasemi, today, Ghasemi finally gave in and officially announced his resignation. According to news from Iran Gate sources, Brigadier General Alireza Fakhari, the former coordinating deputy of the Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters and the current head of the National Land and Housing Organization, is the most likely candidate to temporarily lead this ministry.
According to news received by Iran Gate, Alireza Nikzad, the deputy speaker of the parliament, went to the government last week and expressed his readiness to take on the responsibility of the ministry and be introduced as the minister. It is likely that before Fakhari’s temporary leadership term ends, the government will send Nikzad to the parliament to overcome the short obstacle of a vote of confidence and once again take the helm of this ministry.
Saeed Aghanji’s tweet also points to this matter and confirms the discussions of Iran Gate in this period.
