Significant U.S. Sanctions Against Iran’s Drone Program
While recent days have seen the military equations in the Persian Gulf become precarious following the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s drone attack on an Israeli oil tanker, Tuesday’s U.S. sanctions against Iran’s drone program reveal a serious shift in the monitoring and punitive measures against Iran.
These new sanctions, in addition to targeting the drone industries and companies within Iran, also aim at the transportation routes and the international space of interactions related to these industries. This space, which Iran utilizes through the UAE and companies and businesses registered in that country, although seemingly allows for a variety of activities by the Iranian regime, has become one of the best opportunities for the U.S. to monitor various activities.
