Asghar Salimi, Member of Parliament: Officials Have No Intention to Lift Platform Filters

Asghar Salimi, a member of parliament, says officials have no intention of lifting the ban on platforms.

Asghar Salimi, a member of the Parliament’s Economic Commission, told Iran Watch that it seems there is no intention from decision-making authorities to lift the ban. He mentioned that even if the ban is lifted, negotiations should quickly take place with these applications to establish representation in Iran.

More importantly, Salimi stated that the internet cannot be cut off abruptly with the expectation that everyone will flock to domestic platforms. Instead, a 6-month or 1-year grace period should be considered for both digital space activists and domestic companies to prepare the necessary infrastructure.
