The federal prosecutor is now relentlessly pursuing Trump.
John Smith, known as Jack Smith in the federal prosecution and U.S. courts, is now the special prosecutor for Trump’s federal cases. He was previously engaged in prosecuting war criminals in The Hague, Netherlands, and has not yet traveled to the U.S. because he is undergoing treatment for a sports injury.
Nevertheless, the formidable Mr. Smith quickly issued a statement after his appointment, declaring that he would promptly and tirelessly pursue Trump’s cases. In line with his promise, he has instructed his subordinates to initiate court proceedings and follow several specific cases until he arrives in the U.S.
The swift pursuit of Trump’s cases will be of great importance, and now Merrick Garland, appointed by Joe Biden as the federal prosecutor, will no longer have a direct role in these cases.
