Mehdi Kouhian, a member of the Committee for the Pursuit of Detained Artists, stated that 40 filmmakers have been arrested during the recent protests in Iran.
He mentioned that not all of them are famous individuals; there are many unknown people among the detained cinema community. To protect their privacy, we refrain from publicizing their names until their families announce the names of the detainees.
Mr. Kouhian also stated that they have compiled a list of 150 filmmakers who were summoned, arrested, charged, banned from leaving the country, or faced various restrictions by the relevant authorities during the protests.
He says that this committee has had discussions with the relevant authorities about this situation, and it was agreed that the security atmosphere should be reduced, but in practice, these actions against filmmakers have continued.
In the latest incident involving filmmakers, the well-known Iranian actress Mitra Hajjar was arrested yesterday, and it was announced hours later that she was released on bail.
