The judiciary has sentenced five defendants to death in connection with the case of a Basij member’s killing.
Masoud Setayeshi, the spokesperson for the Islamic Republic’s judiciary, announced the issuance of death sentences for five defendants related to the case of Basij member Rouhollah Ajamian’s killing.
Mr. Setayeshi stated that five of the defendants, who took effective actions such as stabbing the martyr with a knife and punching and kicking him on the asphalt, which led to Rouhollah Ajamian’s martyrdom, were sentenced to death on charges of corruption on earth through committing crimes against security and attacking officers and the police, causing public disorder. He also mentioned that 11 other defendants, including 3 under the age of 18, were sentenced to long-term imprisonment.
It is said that these sentences are not final and can be appealed in the Supreme Court.
According to Iranian media, Rouhollah Ajamian, born in 1994, was a member of the Basij from the 417th Kamalshahr unit in Karaj, who was killed by knife stabs on Thursday, November 3, during the fortieth-day ceremony of Hadis Najafi near Behesht Sakineh in Karaj.
