Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, stated that the retribution sentence was carried out in Farah after returning to power.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, announced in a statement that according to the ruling of the Taliban’s Supreme Court, a retribution sentence was executed on an individual in Farah province today.
The statement mentioned that God’s law of retribution was applied to a murderer on Wednesday in the center of Farah province. It also stated that this individual was named Tajmir and was accused of killing a person named Mustafa, to which he confessed.
It is unclear how this execution was carried out, but during their first period of rule, the Taliban executed retribution sentences by shooting.
The Taliban’s statement emphasized that this individual’s case was carefully reviewed in the Taliban’s three-tiered court system before such a sentence was issued.
Critics say that Taliban courts are held without defense attorneys, prosecutors, and without granting the accused the right to defense.
