Asylum applications to Europe increased by 17 percent

The number of people who submitted their first asylum application to one of the 27 member countries of the European Union in August 2022 increased by 17 percent compared to the same month last year.

The Statistical Office of the European Commission, by releasing its latest report on the trend of refugee arrivals to the European Union, announced that a total of 77,595 new asylum applications were registered in EU member countries last August.
