The Vast Dimensions of the Financial Scandal of the Vice President of the European Parliament
The Financial Times newspaper reports an unprecedented investigation into corruption and bribery scandal involving the Vice President of the European Parliament and several European officials, which has shaken this institution to its core.
This British newspaper, in a report titled ‘Suitcases Full of Cash, Luxury Holidays, and Secret Bank Accounts Shake the EU Bribery Scandal,’ wrote that an Italian politician has become the main figure in the international investigation into allegations of Qatar and Morocco’s attempts to bribe EU lawmakers. The aim of this action was to influence EU policies and use a network of non-governmental organizations to conceal corrupt transactions.
Pier Antonio Panzeri, a socialist member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2016, is one of four individuals accused of corruption, money laundering, and membership in a criminal gang after police seized 600,000 euros at his residence in Brussels.
