BBC World Service: Iranian Protesters Fear Going to Hospitals
The BBC World Service has broadcast a report about the fear of injured Iranian protesters in going to hospitals.
The report states that while the Revolutionary Guard members use live ammunition and pellet bullets against protesters, many of the injured avoid hospitals because there are reports of people being arrested in the emergency rooms.
The program continues by saying that volunteers with little or no medical training are trying to treat these individuals at home, leading to a lack of reliable statistics on the number of deaths and injuries in the anti-government protests.
The program includes interviews with two Iranians who were severely injured and managed to escape their cities to seek treatment in Iraqi Kurdistan.
One of them, a veterinarian, was shot while trying to help injured protesters.
