Reports published on social media indicate the killing of a 12-year-old girl by the gunfire of armed police officers in Hormozgan.

According to these reports, on the night of Sunday, December 25, officers opened fire on a vehicle on the Lamerd to Bastak road in Hormozgan province. It is said that Soha E’tebari, a 12-year-old child from the village of Kholus in Bastak, who was in the vehicle with her family, was hit by a bullet and transferred to the hospital but died before reaching the operating room.

Mehrdad Moshavegh, the deputy commander of Hormozgan police, on Monday confirmed that a bullet from the officers hit one of the vehicle’s passengers and that the person was taken to the hospital, without mentioning the child’s name and age or her death.

According to the Hormozgan police information website, Mehrdad Moshavegh justified the shooting at Soha E’tebari’s family’s vehicle by the officers’ suspicion of tinted windows and the driver’s failure to comply with the police’s stop order.
