The New Tactic of the Islamic Republic: Forced Confession After Temporary Release

State media have released a video of Dena Sheibani, a snowboarding coach, showing her in regular clothes without a hijab, repeating confessions that were published during her detention. Sheibani was temporarily released about two weeks ago on a bail of 4 billion tomans.

Sheibani is apparently making these confessions and repeating the bombing scenario during her release, as in one noteworthy sentence from the same video, she says, ‘If you are still out there and protesting.’ Many believe this indicates pressure and threats from security agencies on her to repeat her confessions even after her temporary release.

Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard, recently published the forced confessions of Dena Sheibani, Mohammad Khiweh, Eshraq Najafabadi, Amirarsalan Mahdavi, and Hesam Mousavi, accusing them of planning bombing operations.
