Do not interpret Elias Naderan’s resignation from the Parliament; just read out the resignation request.
Elias Naderan, a representative of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, publicly asked the presidium of the Parliament to accept his resignation.
He was previously a member of the Revolutionary Guards and has been a parliamentary representative for four terms, with many of his controversial positions making headlines in Iran for years.
In his speech today, he stated that according to the Parliament’s internal regulations, the presidium must read out the resignation request and is not allowed to interpret it.
This May, he published a critical letter against Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stating that Ghalibaf has managerial weaknesses. Elias Naderan also criticized the engineering of the arrangement of specialized commissions.
In May, the newspaper Etemad reported that at the very start of the Parliament’s term, there were rumors about Elias Naderan’s resignation. It seemed that Naderan was upset about the lack of attention to his status and position as a veteran representative in the arrangement of the presidencies of the parliamentary commissions.
At that time, three members of the parliamentary presidium denied Naderan’s resignation.
