Australia is monitoring Iranian warships
The Australian Department of Defense says it is aware of the presence of two Iranian frigates in the South Pacific Ocean and is closely monitoring their activities. Dena and Makran, which belong to the 86th fleet of the Islamic Republic’s Navy, set sail in the month of Shahrivar.
Two Iranian warships have been tracked crossing the South Pacific Ocean.
ABC network, reporting this news quoting the Australian Department of Defense, writes that the activities and movements of these vessels in the region are being closely monitored.
These vessels, named Dena and Makran, belong to the 86th fleet of the Islamic Republic’s Navy, and their presence in the waters of the South Pacific Ocean has been interpreted by observers as a display of naval power. Makran was originally an oil tanker that has been refurbished and repurposed into a naval base ship.
A spokesperson for the Australian Department of Defense, confirming the activity of these vessels in the region, has stated that as part of broader efforts to protect maritime borders, we are also monitoring maritime traffic in proximity to the exclusive economic zone.
