Condemnation of Javad Larijani’s Remarks by Friday Prayer Leaders of Sistan and Baluchestan

The managers of the Society of Seminary Teachers and the Friday prayer leaders and congregational leaders of several counties in Sistan and Baluchestan issued a strongly worded statement, calling Mohammad Javad Larijani, a former parliament member, a babbler and slanderer, and wrote that they condemn his insulting remarks against the Friday prayer leader of Zahedan in the strongest terms.

On Friday, January 6, Mohammad Javad Larijani, in an interview with Fars News Agency affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, harshly criticized the positions of Molavi Abdolhamid, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, and called for action against him.

He also compared the Makki Grand Mosque of Zahedan, which is one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world and the most famous Sunni mosque in Iran, to the Mosque of Dhirar, saying that foul words come from there.

The Mosque of Dhirar is known as a symbol of hypocrisy in the early Islamic period, and according to some historical narratives, the Prophet of Islam ordered its destruction.
