Ali Shamkhani is going to Moscow to discuss the drone attack on Isfahan.
The special representative of the Russian president for Afghanistan affairs has stated that Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, will travel to Moscow next week to participate in a multilateral meeting focusing on Afghanistan.
Sputnik reported that this meeting is a continuation of a similar meeting hosted by the capital of Tajikistan last year, where the secretaries of security councils from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan negotiated about the situation in Afghanistan.
Zamir Kabulov, the director of the Asian Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in an interview with Sputnik News that the discussions during Ali Shamkhani’s visit to Moscow will not revolve around the security situation in Iran following the drone attack on the Ministry of Defense complex in Isfahan.
In the early hours of Monday, 9th of Bahman, a massive explosion was reported in an ammunition factory in Isfahan. Iranian authorities claimed to have neutralized three small drones, but some Western sources assessed it as a highly successful attack.
