International Olympic Committee's Warning to Iran

International Olympic Committee’s notification to Iran

The President of the International Olympic Committee has expressed serious concerns about discrimination against Iranian athletes and has warned the Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran to ensure full compliance with the Olympic Charter.

InsidetheGames news outlet, which covers International Olympic Committee news, has reported that Thomas Bach, after the execution of Mohammad Mehdi Karimi, the national karate champion and one of the four individuals executed for participating in anti-regime protests, held meetings with the President of the Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to this report, intense discussions were held regarding Iranian athletes, and the Iranian side emphasized the International Olympic Committee’s insistence on the presence of Iranian athletes in competitions, free from any discrimination, competing against their rivals.

Mahmoud Khosrovifa, a longtime protector of Ali Khamenei, is currently in charge of the presidency of the Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic and was summoned to Switzerland to receive the notification at the beginning of his sixth month in office.
