German Parliament Member Emphasizes the Need to Label the IRGC as Terrorists

The Bundestag described the events in Iran as a revolution and called for support of Iranian protesters by increasing pressure on the European Union to label the IRGC as terrorists.

In an article published on the European Council website, Norbert Röttgen pointed to the severe repression the regime has employed for its survival against protesters, stating that the Iranian people are aware that only they can overthrow the regime, but with the support of other countries, including severe sanctions and isolating the regime, the revolution can progress faster.

He added that Iranians who are risking their lives in this path have the right to expect more than a minimal reaction from Germany and the European Union.

Röttgen also questioned whether we in Germany and Europe truly understand the precarious situation in Iran, and if the German coalition government knows that a successful revolution in Iran could shake the world in the most positive way imaginable.
