Iran and Russia were not invited to the Munich Security Conference
The German government continues preparations for hosting the 59th and most important annual global security conference in Munich, while Russia and Iran have effectively been excluded.
According to the German news agency DPA, leaders from over 40 countries and senior representatives from 90 other governments have been invited to the Munich Conference, but Russia and Iran are not among them.
Russia is not participating due to its invasion of Ukraine, which is considered a war on European soil, and the Islamic Republic is excluded due to its deepening military cooperation with Russia and its violent crackdown on domestic protesters over the past five months.
This major gathering of the world’s security experts will be hosted by the German Defense Minister over three days from February 17 to 19.
