Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, has stated that as a result of the earthquake two days ago in Turkey, at least 100 Afghan citizens have been killed or injured.

Mr. Takal told the BBC that according to the reports we have received so far, nearly 100 Afghans have been martyred or injured in Turkey, and around a hundred homes belonging to Afghans have been destroyed. These figures are not yet precise and are subject to change over time.

The Afghan Embassy in Ankara has also confirmed the casualties of Afghans in this devastating earthquake but has stated that exact figures are not yet available.

Hundreds of thousands of Afghan migrants live in Turkey, and with the revealing of the devastating dimensions of the recent earthquake in this country, concerns about the situation of millions of refugees in this country are also increasing.
