The President of Moldova has tried to bring a destabilized government back to work in Moscow.
Maya Sandu, the President of Moldova, accused the Kremlin on Monday, February 24th, of plotting to overthrow the government of this small neighboring republic, which is close to Ukraine.
According to Ms. Sandu, Moldovan security officials have confirmed that Moscow has attempted to overthrow the government of this country and bring a destabilized government back to work through violent protests by the Moldovan opposition.
Moldova, with a population of 26 million, is a poor country neighboring Romania and Ukraine, and is striving to join the European Union. The country officially applied for EU membership in the summer of 2022.
Transnistria is a narrow strip of land in eastern Moldova, adjacent to western Ukraine, which has been governed by pro-Russian separatists since the end of the war with the central Moldovan government in 1992.
