The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the outbreak of the Marburg virus in Equatorial Guinea and announced that so far, 9 people have died due to infection with this virus, and 16 other suspected cases with symptoms like fever, extreme fatigue, diarrhea, and vomiting have been observed. The World Health Organization has convened a meeting to discuss the new outbreak of this highly infectious virus in Central Africa. The Marburg virus, like the Ebola virus, is transmitted through close contact with the bodily fluids of infected individuals or contaminated surfaces and materials such as bedding. If untreated, this virus is fatal in 88% of cases. Symptoms also include high fever and severe headache.
