Revocation of Citizenship in Case of Committing a Terrorist Crime

Simultaneously with the Israeli parliament’s resolution to revoke citizenship from Israeli Palestinians and East Jerusalem residents in the event of committing terrorist crimes and receiving money from the Palestinian Authority, the U.S. and Europe criticized Benjamin Netanyahu’s government’s decision to expand settlements.

On the evening of Wednesday, February 15, the Israeli parliament passed a law with a majority of 94 votes in favor and 10 against, which allows the government to expel and revoke the citizenship of Arabs and Palestinians residing in East Jerusalem who were Israeli citizens.

Palestinians and Arabs who have been convicted of terrorist crimes in the country’s courts and have received financial assistance from Palestinian organizations are the main targets of this law. However, according to Israeli media, family members of these prisoners may also be subject to this law.
