Reza Pahlavi may find a way to choose a monarchy instead of inheriting it in Munich.
Reza Pahlavi, one of the most prominent opponents of the Islamic Republic, personally prefers a monarchy over a republican system. However, he suggests that innovative methods could be found to select a monarch, rather than having someone inherit the position.
Mr. Pahlavi, along with Masih Alinejad and Nazanin Boniadi, attended a security conference in Munich and answered questions from journalists during a press interview.
Referring to the presence of monarchist groups in Munich, one reporter stated that Reza Pahlavi’s supporters openly refer to him as a prince and ask him to sit on the throne. The reporter asked if his image as an heir to a non-democratic regime, like his father and grandfather Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, contradicts his policy of wanting democracy in Iran.
