Josep Borrell: Stop human rights violations and supporting war
On the evening of Sunday, February 19, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced his phone call with the European Union’s foreign policy chief and the senior European negotiator in the nuclear deal revival talks. Josep Borrell also confirmed that during this call, he urged Tehran to immediately cooperate with the agency.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian tweeted that during this call, he discussed with Josep Borrell the relations between the Islamic Republic and the European Union, the agreement to lift sanctions on the condition of returning to the nuclear agreement, Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the war in Ukraine.
The European Union’s foreign policy chief also wrote about the content of the conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister: I reiterated the European Union’s stance on the Iranian government’s behaviors: Stop human rights violations, stop supporting Russia’s aggressive war, and stop the arbitrary detention of European Union citizens.
This high-ranking European diplomat also emphasized that the Iranian government must immediately cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
