One of the supporters of Hezbollah in Lebanon was arrested in Bucharest.
US judicial authorities announced on Friday, February 5th, that Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi, a Lebanese citizen of Belgian nationality, was arrested in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, as one of the key individuals involved in financing Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to the Associated Press, Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi, 58 years old, was designated as a global terrorist by the United States in 2018, and a $10 million reward was set for information about him.
US authorities claim that Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi has provided millions of dollars to Hezbollah, a group supported by Iran.
Breon Peace, the prosecutor of the Brooklyn district in New York, said that the extradition of Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi and Lebanese citizen Talal Shahin, 78 years old, on charges outlined in the indictment that was opened in the federal court in Brooklyn last month, is being pursued.
