We acknowledge Ali Daei’s greatness, but we will not appoint him as the national team coach.
Etemad newspaper reported that the legendary Iranian football icon, who was previously banned from leaving the country, was spotted in Paris with his spouse, commemorating another memorable night. It was a night full of beautiful events for Daei and emotional and prideful moments for our nation.
However, when we juxtapose all the glorious achievements and prideful moments that Ali Daei has brought to our country with the behaviors of some individuals in our nation, we become more perplexed. For instance, the recent discussion about selecting the national team coach is strange because Daei’s name is not among the candidates.
The selectors of the national team coach should answer the question of what harm it would cause to discard the reputable brand of Daei. Is it Daei himself who needs the national team, yet his name is not even considered as a candidate for the coaching position? Or are there managers who want to exploit the legend’s sidelining for their own benefit?
The fact that many people are content with Daei not being involved in our football, despite all the controversies surrounding him, speaks volumes about his popularity.
