Water and Energy Consumption Made Free for Basij

Water and energy consumption became free for the Basij

Iran’s parliament members continued reviewing the budget for the Iranian year 1402 and approved parts of it, including granting the Basij an exemption from paying urban service connection fees, as well as considering a permit for selling oil to individuals through executive bodies.

According to ISNA, in part of the review of the 1402 budget bill, the paramilitary Basij organization at all levels has been exempted from paying urban service connection fees.

Thus, all levels of the Basij Mostazafan Organization, including bases, sectors, or regions of the Basij, will be exempt from paying connection fees for electricity, gas, water, sewage, and municipal charges.

Parliament members also retreated from a previous decision to grant tax exemptions to luxury homes. In the public parliament session, the imposition of taxes on homes and villas valued at more than 20 billion tomans was approved.

Earlier, the parliament opposed the proposal of taxing luxury homes, including with the justification that such a tax could lead to an increase in rents.
