Farewell Ceremony for Former Acting Ambassador of Afghanistan in Tehran

Farewell ceremony for the former Charge d’Affaires of Afghanistan Embassy in Tehran

Rasoul Mousavi, the Director General of South Asia at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the end of the mission of Abdulqayum Suleimani, the former Charge d’Affaires of the Afghanistan Embassy in Tehran, by sharing photos of the farewell ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

In his tweet, he wrote that diplomats come and go, but the essence of relations between countries and their people should remain.

He added that the friendly relations with Afghanistan will continue without any changes and within the defined framework in line with the interests of the people of both countries.

Two days ago, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over the Afghanistan Embassy in Tehran to Taliban representatives, although it stated that this is an internal matter related to Afghanistan. And a day before that, Mr. Suleimani and about 15 other diplomats of this embassy stated that they handed over the embassy keys to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are not willing to work with the Taliban.

Fazl Mohammad Haqani, the appointed Charge d’Affaires by the Taliban at the Afghanistan Embassy in Tehran, has started his work with 7 newly dispatched diplomats from the Taliban, and the Taliban stated that the embassy’s activities are ongoing as usual.
