Ukraine destroyed 13 Iranian Shahed drones
The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Monday, March 6, that it had shot down 13 more Iranian explosive drones that had taken off from southern Russia the previous night.
According to AFP, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 15 Iranian-made Shahed drones from the Bryansk region northeast of Kyiv, and Ukrainian forces successfully destroyed 13 of them before they could hit their targets.
Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said that these drones were heading towards Kyiv, but Ukrainian air defense forces shot them down, and no one was injured, nor was there any damage to infrastructure.
Ukraine has been able to better resist Russian air attacks after receiving new missile defense systems from Western allies, including the United States and the United Kingdom.
However, a Russian drone attack in late February on the city of Khmelnytskyi in western Ukraine killed two people and injured three others.
