Amir-Abdollahian’s meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister in Moscow
Iran’s Foreign Minister, who arrived in Russia yesterday, met with Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, today on Thursday.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian had said before leaving Tehran that Iran-Russia cooperation poses no threat to any country.
Prior to this trip, The Wall Street Journal had reported that in response to Russia’s assistance with drones, Iran provides technical assistance for cyber surveillance.
Iran says it has not provided any military assistance to Russia in the Ukraine war, and before the war, it had given some drones to Russia. The US considers Iran as Russia’s largest military supporter in the war against Ukraine.
Relations between Tehran and Moscow, especially after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, have become closer, and Iran has been able to finalize the purchase of Su-35 fighter jets from Russia.
Iran’s Foreign Minister said after arriving in Moscow that the doors are open for negotiations on the JCPOA.
The US State Department has repeatedly emphasized that all options regarding Iran’s nuclear program are on the table, but the JCPOA is not among them.
