Nowruz Visits at Faezeh Hashemi's Home: A Unique Joy of Meeting Prison Friends

The Nowruz visit at Faezeh Hashemi’s home has the unique joy of meeting prison comrades.

Mojgan Ilanlou, a documentary filmmaker and women’s rights activist who was imprisoned for several months for posting a picture of herself sitting without a headscarf in a restaurant, has shared a photo of a Nowruz visit at Faezeh Hashemi’s home along with women prisoners from Evin. This photo was taken on the ninth of Farvardin.

Along with this picture, she has written a note, part of which says that meeting prison comrades beyond the stone walls and iron doors has a unique joy that only those who have been imprisoned understand.

Ms. Ilanlou added that prison friendships mean there is someone with whom you can find peace in moments of storm and anxiety, and share the deepest joys of the world in happiness and delight. Prison friendships mean you have been welcomed into the club of fortunate people.

Mojgan Ilanlou was released on February 15. She had been arrested at her home by the IRGC Intelligence Organization on October 18 and transferred to Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
