Decline in Electricity Exports and Increase in Imports in Iran

The latest report from the Ministry of Energy shows that during the first 11 months of last year, the country’s electricity imports increased significantly, while electricity exports declined.

According to this report published on the Ministry of Energy’s website, Iran exported 427 terawatt-hours of electricity in the first 11 months of last year, which shows a decrease of about 16% compared to the same period the previous year.

During the same period, Iran imported nearly 38 terawatt-hours of electricity, which represents an increase of about 37% compared to the same period in 2021.

In recent years, Iran has been unable to implement plans for increasing electricity production, launching new power plants, and reducing electricity loss in the grid. As a result, electricity exports have decreased each year, while imports have increased.
