40% Price Increase for Some Food Items in 1402
While government employees’ salaries for this year are only considered to have a 20% increase and for labor wages, only a 27% increase, statistics show that the prices of some food items have grown by 40% in just the first three weeks of the year.
Observations by the ILNA news agency indicate that despite the government’s promise to maintain the maximum price of chicken at 63,000 tomans, this product is currently being sold for 84,000 tomans, showing a 40% growth.
ILNA also refers to the approval of a 30% price increase for domestic cars and states that the average taxi and bus fares in Tehran have experienced a 40% increase.
Despite three weeks passing since Farvardin, the Statistical Center of Iran has not even released the inflation statistics for the previous Esfand. However, the February statistics of the Central Bank of Iran show that the inflation in Esfand compared to the same month in 1400 has reached a historical record since the Islamic Revolution, reaching 64%.
The February report of the Statistical Center also indicates that the inflation of food items in this month compared to Bahman 1400 was about 715%.
