Formation of Teams to Deal with Hijab Violators
According to Iranian media reports, Mohammad Mousavian, the prosecutor of Isfahan province, announced that a memorandum of understanding has been arranged between the judiciary, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice headquarters of this province to deal with those who do not observe the mandatory hijab in public places.
Mr. Mousavian also mentioned the formation of special branches in the judiciary that operate to deal with what he called ‘norm-breakers’ of hijab removal.
The prosecutor of Isfahan province also said that there will be serious action against businesses that do not observe Islamic codes, whether the managers themselves remove hijab or provide services to those who do.
In recent months, following the nationwide protests in Iran, while the government’s pressure to enforce the mandatory hijab has significantly increased, many women and men have used various methods to counter it.
This includes the publication of photos of women without mantles and scarves in public places and men accompanying them by wearing shorts in the city.
