Officials’ reaction to the installation of curtains in the metro wagon: This action was done at the request of the women themselves.
Masoud Dorosti, CEO of the Metro Operation and Suburbs Company, stated that these glass doors were installed to prevent men from entering the women’s wagon at the request of the women.
According to IRNA news agency, he mentioned regarding the reactions to the installation of these doors that it seems the design implemented on these glass barriers has not been well-received by passengers and has faced criticism. If the floral design does not receive positive feedback from the public, we will not insist on it and the design will be changed.
He said that the design on these doors will be covered with cultural and advertising themes and will change under different circumstances.
According to him, these doors will be installed on all trains in the coming weeks.
With the government’s increasing strictness on enforcing the hijab, restrictions have also been imposed in Iran’s metros. Numerous videos have been released showing officers reminding passengers to observe the hijab in the metros, some of which show that women without the mandatory hijab are not allowed to enter the metro.
