The European Union condemned the execution of Habib Asyud

Hours after the announcement of Habib Asyud’s execution, the European Union issued a statement strongly condemning this action by the Iranian government in the strongest possible terms and reiterated its firm opposition to the death penalty under any circumstances.

In this statement, published on Saturday, May 6, it is stated that the member countries of the European Union, while expressing sympathy and condolences to the family of Habib Farajollah Chaab, known as Habib Asyud, also emphasize their full solidarity with the government of Sweden.

The European Union has also called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to refrain from carrying out or issuing death sentences in the future and to pursue a consistent policy towards the abolition of this type of punishment.
