Zelensky’s request to speak at the Eurovision final was denied
Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, was not granted permission to speak before tens of millions of viewers at the Eurovision Song Contest final.
The final of this contest will be held on Saturday in the city of Liverpool. The European Broadcasting Union, which organizes this event, stated that such political intervention is against the contest’s rules.
Mr. Zelensky hoped to call for continued support for his country in its fight against Russian forces through a video broadcast. Ukraine was supposed to host this event, but the war prevented it.
