Discovery of Radioactive Materials on an Iranian Passenger Bus in Turkey

The state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Friday, June 23, that Turkish gendarmerie officers discovered and seized a quantity of radioactive materials from an Iranian passenger bus.

According to Anadolu, the gendarmerie officers stopped this bus, which had entered Turkey from the Gurbulak border, at one of the checkpoints in Dogubayazit in Agri Province and discovered six grams of californium hidden in cigarette packs.

This chemical element is mainly used in nuclear activities and sometimes in oil and medical research, and it has a high price.
