Wall Street Journal: American companies refuse to unload seized Iranian oil

The American newspaper Wall Street Journal says that U.S. federal prosecutors cannot auction off 800,000 barrels of seized Iranian oil because American companies are unwilling to unload this oil shipment from a Greek tanker anchored in Texas.

This report, published on Tuesday, July 18, cites informed sources stating that these companies’ refusal to unload the Suez Rajan tanker is due to fears of possible retaliation from the Islamic Republic.

According to the Wall Street Journal, prosecutors this year initially accused the Greek owner of the Suez Rajan tanker of violating sanctions and then ordered the unloading of this tanker carrying Iranian oil.
