Dollar to be Removed from Iran's Tourism Transactions with Regional Countries

The dollar will be removed from tourism exchanges between Iran and regional countries

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran claimed that the provision of dinars to individuals intending to travel for Arba’een this year was successful and stated that the Central Bank plans to implement this scheme for other countries in the region as well.

According to ISNA news agency, this year’s Arba’een currency services were carried out by the Iranian banking network with several fundamental differences compared to previous years, including the use of the destination country’s currency instead of the dollar and euro for the first time.

The announcement of this matter faced concerns from currency market activists from the very first days, and some economic experts also questioned what source the Central Bank intends to use to procure and supply Arba’een currency in the form of dinars.
