Start of the second phase of the Oman Sea water transfer project to Isfahan
According to ISNA news agency, Ebrahim Raisi, after visiting the progress of the Oman Sea water transfer project to Isfahan, ordered the commencement of the execution of the second phase of this important project.
This project is being implemented in Isfahan.
Based on this report, in the first phase, 70 million cubic meters of water from the Oman Sea is to be transferred to Isfahan, and in the second phase, 400 million cubic meters.
According to this report, the execution of the first phase of this project began in Mehr 1401 (October 2022), and currently, 24 sites are active with the presence of 14 contractors.
The seawater desalination project for agricultural use was pursued in the 1960s and 1970s in Iran, and one of the motivations for establishing the Bushehr nuclear power plant at that time was to provide the high amount of electricity needed for desalination facilities.
In recent years, water shortages in Isfahan have led to protests in this province.
