The increase in the price of powdered milk continues despite restrictions

The price of powdered milk continues to rise despite restrictions.

Since April 2023, in Iran, powdered milk is only sold with a national ID card and is intended for infants under two years old. However, according to reports, there is still a shortage and an increase in the price of powdered milk despite these restrictions.

Khabaronline reports on the current situation of powdered milk and quotes a father who came from a village to find powdered milk in the city. He visited 10 different pharmacies, but none of them had powdered milk.

A pharmacy employee also told Khabaronline that the cost of powdered milk has increased by 40%. Iranian powdered milk brands such as Aptamil Nan and Bebelac have gone from prices ranging from 40,000 to 50,000 tomans to 70,000 to 80,000 tomans.

According to this pharmacy employee, the price increase of foreign powdered milk has been even higher. The prices of imported powdered milk have multiplied several times during this period. However, the prices are high and people cannot afford them. For example, the price of Bébé Confort Junior powdered milk was 170,000 tomans and now it is 780,000 tomans. The price of Resource Junior powdered milk was 80,000 tomans and now it is 400,000 tomans.
